Vantage Point- Clarity, Intentionality, and Focus

The wife and I took a trip recently to Miami for the weekend. One evening, while waiting for my lovely queen as we stepped out for dinner, I sat and looked out the window of our hotel room and took this picture; I was really feeling the socks, by the way :).

They say a picture is worth a thousand words; in this case, I present to you two words -vantage point. From my view, I could see the city. I could see high-rise buildings and single-story buildings as well. But I could also see my socks. If my intended focus is on my socks, but then I got distracted by looking far into the city, then I've missed the goal. Sometimes in life, the beauty surrounding our plans cloud our thinking and derail us from our goals; beware.

Also, clarity plays an integral part in achieving your goals. There is an amazing action-thriller from 2008 with Dennis Quaid, Forrest Whitaker, and Matthew Fox called Vantage Point. In it, witnesses with different points of view, based on location, tried to decrypt a complex assassination attempt. Each one saw something different, but the person with a perfect view of it all "clearly" saw it all; they had clarity.

We've talked about (in previous blog posts) the importance of living intentionally. Living intentionally is simply being focused. To live intentionally, you must assess your current state, understand where God is taking you, chart the course within the guidelines you've received, and execute on the assignment given to you. Clarity is essential to you assessing, planning, and executing your goals. To achieve your goal, you must be clear on what the assignment is. And having the perfect view where you're able to see the big picture does help.

Here's the summary of it all: FOCUS. Follow on course until success is the outcome of clarity and intentionality. When you're focused, your goals are then easily met. As you go on this week, clearly think through your goals, intentionally determine the perfect view to understand how to execute them, and then get to work. Remember that good intentions never solve a problem; actions do.

Best wishes,

L.B.
