When Things Don’t Add Up

There are seasons in life when the math just doesn’t make sense.
You’re doing the work. You’re checking the boxes. You’re praying, showing up, pouring out, but the results? They feel delayed, denied, or downright disappointing.

I’ve been there. Maybe you have too.
It’s in these moments that we wrestle with one of the toughest realities of growth, the silence of sowing.
See, sowing is quiet. It doesn’t clap for you. It doesn’t applaud your effort. It doesn’t always even reassure you. But make no mistake, something is happening underground.
Here are three principles to remember when things don’t seem to add up:
Your Obedience is Not Wasted
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
You’re not crazy for trying. You’re not wrong for believing. God sees every step, every seed, every sacrifice. Obedience is a long-term investment — not a short-term transaction.
God Multiplies in Mysterious Ways
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…” - Ephesians 3:20
When you do the math, it might not compute. But God’s economy is not based on formulas, it’s based on faith. He specializes in unseen compounding — the kind that builds under pressure and blooms in its due season.
Clarity Comes with Consistency
There are days when you’ll feel like giving up, giving in, or giving God a deadline. Don’t.
Stay consistent. Consistency clears the fog. It sharpens your vision and reinforces your commitment, not because things got easier, but because you got stronger.
So if you’re feeling like 2 + 2 = 3 in this season, remember: the numbers may not make sense yet, but the story is still being written.
You don’t have to understand it all. Just stay planted, stay present, and trust the God who brings increase in His time.
You’re doing better than you think.
Best wishes,
L.B.
