Setting Purposeful Goals

ree

As we embrace the dawn of a new year, it’s time to focus on setting goals that resonate not just with our personal ambitions but with our spiritual paths as well. Here’s how we can set purposeful goals that transcend the everyday and touch the eternal.

  1. Reflect with Purpose - "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves." - 2 Corinthians 13:5. Begin with reflection. Look back at the past year thoughtfully—acknowledge both triumphs and trials. Reflection paves the way for meaningful goal-setting, rooted in the lessons God has taught us.

  2. Set Spiritually Aligned Goals - Think about goals that have a lasting impact—those that foster spiritual growth and community service. Consider commitments like joining a weekly Bible study, or starting a prayer group. These goals should enhance your spiritual vitality and your ability to serve.

  3. Seek Accountability - "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." - Proverbs 27:17. Share your goals with a fellow believer. Accountability partners can provide the encouragement and the nudge needed to stay on track throughout the year.

  4. Commit to a First Action - Identify a simple, immediate action that will set the course for your year. It might be setting aside a specific time for daily prayer or volunteering monthly. Make this first step one that significantly moves you toward your larger goals.

By anchoring our goals in our faith, we ensure that our pursuits are not just for the year ahead but for a lifetime of purpose. Let us walk into this year with goals that honor God and foster community.

Best wishes,

L.B.
