Irreplaceable

If you don't do what God asks you to in your circle of influence he will raise up others who will; that could hurt.

I think the song "Irreplaceable" by Beyonce Knowles is quite interesting. When you listen to the lyrics of the song, you have a better understanding of what she means. In that song, Beyonce tells her significant other that he is replaceable, although the title of the song is irreplaceable. This sometimes depicts our relationship with God. We know we are his children and he loves us darely, he will never forsake us, it is written (Deut. 31:6). We know he has the best in store for us, all we have to do is just ask and we shall receive, it is also written (Matt 7:7). Having such knowledge gives us a certain level of comfort, and if I may say, confidence in our rightful ownership of all our blessings.

What we sometimes forget is that our Lord has many children and he is one who rewards those who dilligently seek him, it is written (Heb. 11:6). It is also written, that he will draw near to those who draw near to him (James 4:8). And so, when we think we are irreplaceable as Beyonce's man thought, we take for granted our relationship with him, we fail to play our part; you forget he can have "another you in a minute." When God gives you a task to complete but you lollygag around, he could easily punt that task and the rewards that follow to someone else.

Sometimes God places a burning desire in our heart, a task to be completed, a message for his people. He gives us this task with the right tools to get the job done. Sometimes we are given much more than we need to complete that task; financial resources, the energy, skill set, witt and brains. And then we have this illusion that there is enough time to get it done because we have everything at our disposal. We start to think we can do whatever we want with the resources and still get the rewards whenever we get around to completing this task.

Because you know the reward of completing an heavenly task outweighs the work, you finally get to it, after "enjoying" the bountiful resources. Only to find out that someone else has taken up the mantle and therefore received the reward. In that moment you feel rejected, you feel cheated, you feel loss. There's no greater pain than rejection. When God calls you and orders you to deliver, do so speedily for he can raise up stones to praise him if we don't. You are replaceable, don't be deceived by those who tell you otherwise.

Best wishes,

L.B.
